The A-DQ(ZN)(SR)2Y single loose tube cable is designed for outdoor fiber optic networks that require compact construction, reliable fiber protection and enhanced mechanical strength. At its core, a gel-filled loose tube houses up to twelve optical fibers, providing stable attenuation performance under temperature variations, micro-bending effects and moisture exposure. The single-tube design simplifies fiber identification and splicing, making the cable well-suited for access and distribution segments.
Around the core, aramid yarn strength members are applied to provide high tensile performance while keeping the construction lightweight. These yarns distribute pulling forces during installation and help prevent stress from transferring to the fibers, supporting reliable deployment in ducts and moderate pulling distances.
To protect the cable against external mechanical risks, the design incorporates a longitudinal steel armour layer (SR) placed over the aramid-reinforced core. This steel tape armour offers high crush resistance, impact protection and effective rodent deterrence, making the cable suitable for direct burial routes, stony soils and outdoor corridors with elevated mechanical risk. Because the armour is metallic, correct bonding and grounding practices must be applied according to the network design and local standards.
The entire structure is covered by a polyethylene outer jacket, which provides UV resistance, abrasion protection and long-term durability in outdoor environments. The PE sheath shields the armoured core from environmental influences such as moisture, chemicals and soil contact, supporting a long service life in a wide range of climate and ground conditions.
